SquashWise Rally Raises $157,000 and Links Baltimore's Squash & Education Communities

May 15, 2012 - The First-Annual SquashWise Rally was an astounding success, raising more than $157,000 for SquashWise on May 6th, 2012. Teams of donors, SquashWise students, and squash pros "rallied" for SquashWise both on and off the squash court. Each team of donors raised at least $5,000, with incentives to raise even more in support of SquashWise’s great students. Prizes for fundraising accomplishments included vacation homes, dinner certificates, squash gear and lessons, theater tickets, and sports tickets.
Everyone eagerly anticipated the announcement of the top fundraising teams. Team TITAL (Take it To Another Level, captains Martin and Owen Knott) won the fundraising competition with a whopping $31,100 final tally, with The Club Road Crew (captain Jim Meek) following close behind with $28,000 raised. It was a close race for the teams in 3rd and 4th place with more than $20,000 raised per team: Team Bare Hills (captain Debbie Long) and Team HOJOPOHOGAK (captain Bill Krulak). A lot of great squash was played at Meadow Mill Athletic Club on the day of the Rally. Team HOJOPOHOGAK won first place in the squash competition, with Team T. Rowe Price as runner up (captains Jack Laporte and Hugh McGuirk).
A highlight of the day was watching the exhibition matches between SquashWise students and squash professionals, Wade Johnstone and Adel Weir. The crowd was riveted while watching these long and exciting rallies.
