Chelsea Piers Connecticut Assembles Impressive Summer Coaching Staff

OLYMPIANS, NCAA GREATS AND PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES FLOCK TO CHELSEA PIERS

Stamford, CT – May 16, 2013) - Chelsea Piers Connecticut has announced
its summer camp roster of coaches, which reads like a Hall of Fame in
more than eleven sports. Olympians, NCAA All-Americans, professional
athletes and decorated coaches fill the leadership roles in nearly all of
the sports camps that Chelsea Piers Connecticut is running this summer. 

“We are very proud of the staff that we have assembled to lead our summer
camps,” commented Mollie Marcoux, Executive Director, Chelsea Piers
Connecticut.  “Our all-star team has not only reached the highest levels
in their respective sport but most importantly have a passion for
teaching and developing athletes. Having a group like this all assembled
in one location is very unique and will create the most dynamic sports
camp environment available.”

Below is a list of some of our most notable coaches:

Gigi Fernandez – Tennis, Director of Tennis Camp
Two-time Olympic gold medalist; 17 grand slam titles; former #1 ranking
in the world; Puerto Rico's first professional female athlete, Coach of
the Year in Puerto Rico in 2003, named Puerto Rican Athlete of the Century

Natalie Grainger – Squash, Director of Squash Camp
Former #1 in the world; current U.S. National Champion; more than two
dozen title wins; U.S. National coach and current World Doubles Champion

Shaun Hannah - Ice Hockey, Power Skating Director
Former Head Coach of Sacred Heart University; Four year letterman and
Captain at Cornell University; Coach of the Year in the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference and Founder of PowerSkills Hockey Company.

Jamie Barone – Swimming, Director of Aquatics Camp
Competed at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials; ranked in the top 100
globally in the breast stroke events for three years and won a National
Championship in 2006 in the 4X100 Medley Relay

Kristine Lilly – Soccer Coach
Won four national titles during her four years at the University of North
Carolina; member of the U.S. Women’s National Team for 24 years; world's
all time appearance leader with 352 caps; scored 130 goals in her career;
played in five FIFA Women's World Cups (the only woman to do so) and
three Olympic Games

Nathaniel Miller – Water Polo, Director of Water Polo Camp
2008 Canadian Olympic team; three time bronze medalist at the Pan
American Games; MVP of the 2002 Commonwealth Games that saw Canada claim
the gold medal

Byron Knox – Gymnastics, Director of Gymnastics Camp
Former Women's National Team Coach and Regional Elite Gymnastics Director
for USA Gymnastics; three-time USA Gymnastics National Coach of the Year;
four-time NCAA Regional Collegiate Coach of the Year; three-time ECAC
Collegiate Coach of the Year and Fairfield County Sportsman of the Year

Scott Bulkley – Lacrosse, Director of Lacrosse Camp
Captain of the University of North Carolina Lacrosse team; played in the
NCAA Lacrosse Final Four twice; Head Coach of Greenwich High School’s
varsity boys lacrosse team and played professional box lacrosse for Major
League Indoor Lacrosse

Dave Flower – Soccer, Director of Soccer Camp
FCIAC Coach of the Year award in 2009 and 2011; CGSCA Coach of the Year
award in 2009 and MSG Varsity Coach of the Year award (2011)

Bob Bertucci – Volleyball Camp
30-year veteran coach for Lehigh University and previously Temple and
Rutgers; U.S. National coach and scout; 10 conference championships,
eight All-Americans, 46 Conference Athletes

Josh Babb – Synchronized Skating, Director of Synchronized Skating Camp
Coach of TEAM USA for the 2013 Junior World Synchronized Skating
Championships in Helsinki, Finland; Director of the Skyliners
Synchronized Skating teams

Marcia Pankratz – Field Hockey Coach
Head Field Hockey Coach at the University of Michigan; eight Big Ten
Championships; five Big Ten Tournament Championships; 11 NCAA
appearances; won the National Championship in 2001

Chelsea Piers Connecticut will be hosting a camp open house on Saturday,
May 11th from 11am to 2pm for any parents interested in talking with the
camp directors or seeing the facility.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut (CPCT) is a 400,000-sq-ft state-of-the-art
sports and recreation facility located in Stamford, CT, just off I-95 at
Exit 9.  Opened in July 2012, Chelsea Piers Connecticut consists of
several core sports facilities encompassing more than 20 sports.

Ice Rinks - Dual rink skating facility for ice hockey and figure skating
Aquatics Center – Olympic pool, warm water instructional and exercise

6 months to five years

extensive array of professional instructors and league programs for
youths, teens and adults.  In addition to these sport offerings, CPCT is
also home to:

Childcare facility and preschool - Small class sizes, certified teachers
and use of the sports facilities at CPCT 
Chelsea’s Table – Organic, healthy, and natural food café.
The Overlook Bar and Grill – A sit-down restaurant and bar on the
mezzanine level overlooking the North Rink.
BlueStreak Sports Training – An athletic skills-development center
dedicated to sport performance enhancement for dedicated athletes of
every level
Stamford Hospital – An 18,500 square foot branch of Stamford Hospital
focusing on orthopedic and sports medicine physicians, physical therapy
services, a laboratory draw station, and imaging services   
FlyWheel Sports - An intense, incredibly inspiring and empowering cardio
cycling experience led by top-notch instructors in a unique stadium style
