at the Canadian Squash Championships. The four remaining competitors in
Saturday’s finals have never previously won the Canadian Championships
and Saturday will present a golden opportunity for all four.
On the men’s side, the first semi-final was between Shawn Delierre of
Montreal and Andrew Schnell of Calgary, and it produced some
exceptional shot making and tactical play. The 30 year old
Delierre came out on top with a 5 game victory 11-5, 6-11, 11-6, 7-11,
11-4 to reach the final. In the other semi-final, Dane Sharp defeated
surprising semi-finalist Cameron Seth comfortably in 3 games, 11-6,

The women’s side featured World #34 Samantha Cornett of Ottawa taking
on Nikki Todd of Regina and using her full skill set to record a 3-0
(11-7, 11-4, 12-10) victory. “I’m really excited to get through
to the finals. Nikki picked up her game in the third and I got
out in three by the skin of my teeth. There are going to be some
great matches tomorrow! Looking forward to it and hoping to play
well”, said Cornett after her victory.
The other semi final featured Alex Norman of Montreal, the tournament
#2 seed against the U19 Canadian Squash Champion Hollie Naughton of
Oakville. Naughton started the match very strong taking the first
game 8-11. Norman, settled down in the second game and used her
