Chapter 18 You Can Run ... But You Can’t Hide by Tammy Mehmed
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Wherein
Kucinich’s henchman tracks Pike to Margaret’s Long Island home and
receives orders to terminate the Kiwi with extreme prejudice; Eastside
is abuzz with the news of Margaret’s slaying; video at Margaret’s
apartment building shows an unidentified male entering and leaving the
property and Hank is requested to make an appearance at the precinct to
determine if he can provide identification; police send a team to
Margaret’s Long Island home; Hank tells the police about recovery of
Margaret’s cell phone.
Chapter 17 - Pike’s Pique by Jeanne Woods
Late Saturday night and Monday. Wherein
Hank is questioned by police about Margaret’s murder; Pike flashes back
to his mother, realizes he’s lost Margaret’s cell phone, nurses his
sore knee and plans to leave Manhattan; Kate and April show Hank
Margaret’s cell phone, found at the scene of the attack on Kate.
Chapter 16 - April and Lotte to the Rescue by Al Tommervik
Pike assaults Kate outside the roller derby venue but is thwarted by
April; Lotte Van Alstyne finds a way to perpetuate Eastside and Opa’s
legacy; and Hank faces member defections and training difficulties.
Chapter 15 - The Wrath of Priapus by David Smith
Kucinich finds Pike, but witnesses prevent a brawl; Pike gets his stuff
from Joe; Joe alerts Marie and Kate to Pike on the loose; Kate tries to
reach Hank to get him to go to the roller derby with her but only gets
voicemail; Pike inveigles Margaret into giving him a temporary home,
then kills her in a fit of rage.
Chapter 14 - Reckonings by Margot Comstock
Kate gets down to work on Mayhem designs after smoothies with Hank;
Kucinich decides to follow up on a tip as to Pike’s whereabouts; Hank
hooks up with Yvette for dinner and more; Margaret sees Kate on the
street and resents her happy appearance; Marie shows Joe the video of
Pike’s misbehavior in their apartment; Joe and 3 dogs evict Pike as
Kucinich draws near.
Chapter 13 - Kuch by Tammy Mehmed
Jerome Kucinich’s back story is fleshed out and his sway over building
inspectors is explained; with Pike seeming to lurk outside Eastside and
representing a threat to Kate, Jerry calls Kucinich and tips him off as
to Pike’s home address; Hank and Kate continue their rapprochement over
a smoothie; and Pike leaves the vicinity.
Chapter 12 - At the Office by Pierre Bastien
Hank daydreams about Kate, only to have her knock on his office door;
Hank’s elation at seeing Kate is tempered by Kate confessing her fear
of Pike who she ran into outside the building; Jerry suggests a
solution to the Pike problem -- alert Kucinich to his whereabouts
Chapter 11 - Tiger by the Tail by Jeanne Woods
Kate arrives home with sample fabrics, but Marie has not yet changed
the locks; No one but the two women and their dog walker have keys and
Marie and Kate realize the intruder focussed on Kate, so it probably
was Pike; Marie sets up a network of nanny cams to watch the apartment;
the cameras show Pike terrorizing Sassy, checking out the squash
rackets and intruding on the women’s private spaces; Hank arrives at
the office Saturday morning to find his old rackets and a note from
Kate.
Chapter 10 - Destiny’s No Darling by Al Tommervik
Hank looks forward to seeing Kate at the Village Club; Jerry explains
that the sale will be held up by technical errors in Planning
Commission paperwork; Jerry says Hank needs to make changes to Eastside
of convince the Van Alstynes not to sell; April sets Kate up for a
meeting with the Mayhem owner, causing her to miss that night’s squash
match; Kate returns home to fetch her designs and discovers they’ve
been destroyed; Jerry has some suggestions for Hank.
Chapter 9 - Resurrection by Steve Hufford
Pike nurses bruises; Hank and Yvette enjoy the morning; Yvette cajoles
Hank into signing up for the Masters tournament and also signs up
herself; Hank sees the Masters as a chance to reconnect with old
friends, look for work and find former Eastside members to invite to
the farewell bash; Kate sketches some Mayhem design ideas and connects
with April, they agree to meet that night so April can see them; Carter
calls Hank to tell him Kate has joined his club and will be playing in
a league match tomorrow evening.
Chapter 8 - Out Or In by Roland Jacopetti
Hank and Yvette are in her flat where Hank’s worries put a damper on
romance; Kate goes home, leaving Pike adrift; Pike returns to the bar
to find Kucinich’s brother-in-law spoiling for a fight.
Chapter 7 - Late Night by Pierre Bastien
Hank and Yvette adjourn to her flat, but Hank’s exhaustion works
against a romantic interlude; Kate rejects Pike’s suggestion to make a
night of it; Pike learns that Kate is Hank’s daughter.
Chapter 6 - Game Plan by David Bickford
Kate and Pike get together for a drink, Kate tells about meeting April,
who competes in roller derby for the Manhattan Mayhem and her chance to
design new uniforms for the team; Yvette arrives late for dinner with
Hank, Hank asks her to help set up a farewell bash for Eastside; Yvette
mentions Jerry was asking about Kucinich; Kate invites Pike to the
roller derby match on Saturday; Hank tells Yvette he thought he saw his
daughter outside the restaurant where they ate.
Chapter 5 - Walkies with Pike by Tammy Mehmed
Pike gets a job walking dogs from his roommate Joe; Kate’s family story
is revealed; the back story of Kate and Marie meeting and remaining
friends; Pike meets Kate when arriving to walk Sassy, Marie’s dog; Hank
is already at McKeown’s, waiting for Yvette.
Chapter 4 - Hope Springs Eternal by Al Tommervik
Hank learns that Kate has his rackets; the story of Pike threatened by
a paternity suit is told; Carter at Village Squash says he’s seen Kate
playing with high quality rackets and talking to a man in a Kiwi
t-shirt; Jerry gives Hank a pep talk.
Chapter 3 - Unless Wealth Do Us Part by David Smith
Margaret reflects on her unhappy relationship with her family and tells
Hank she has no idea how to contact Kate; Margaret gets herself psyched
up for her “client”; Hank asks Yvette out for a drink.
Chapter 2 - Tired Eyes by Steve Hufford
Hank can’t tell if the young women outside McKeown’s is Kate, but he
finds himself reliving shared events; Hank notes the upcoming Masters
tournament; Jerry digs into details of the pending sale.

Hank tells Jerry about the Pike womanizing and fight; Hank tells Jerry
about the pending sale; Jerry offers Hank a job; Jerry offers to check
into the sale; the back story of Hank’s discovering squash is told;
Hank sees a woman outside a restaurant that looks like his estranged
daughter Kate.
