MEN'S

Rex Hedrick def Jason Mudge 11-8, 6-11, 11-2, 11-3   (54 mins)

This was a highly anticipated match between the experienced Mudge and the number 1 seed. The match started with alot of hard hitting to ht eback with both players refraining to go short. It went point for point until Mudge made a couple of errors a crucial times, giving Rex the game. The second game he seemed a changed man attacking with good length and shot off to a 4-0 lead. However Rex drew back a couple of points, but Jason stayed on top the whole time and took the game. The third took a massive turnaround with Rex holding strong and Mudge making about 8 errors, maybe showing his tiredness. The 4th was the same and Rex took the match.

Paul Coll def Dan Busby 11-3. 11-3, 11-3  (15 mins)

This was over very quickly and showed the fitter Paul Coll taking the match

Jamie McErvale def Osama Khalifa 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-6 (58 mins)

Another highly anticipated match, between the up and comer Egyptian and another young player McErvale. The first game was full of hard hitting length, suiting the faster courts, and saw Jamie take the lead int he middle witht he Egyptian showing signs of fatigue and lack of movement towards hte front right corner. The second game Jamie looked to do the same but went too short too quick giving hte Egyptian lots of options and saw him scrambling around. The third Jamie came out composed again and used the front right corner as a weapon and took and early lead whilst making Osama work hard. He never looked back from there. The 4th was a turnaround with Osama playing some great short balls, but finally moving better. Jamie took an early lead in the 5th and he found his confidence from there and took the game convincingly.

Lewis Walters def Alex Grayson 13-11, 11-6, 11-7 (33 mins)

The young Alex Grayson coming back from injury showed signs of some great form in the first game, but then slowed down in the next two.

Mike Corren def Joshua Southwell-Nobbs 11-9, 11-7, 11-5 (24 mins)

The tour veteran did what he had to, without getting too serious.

Matt played extremely well, making Joseph work hard. He was on.

Tom Pashley def Cameron Stafford 11-8, 11-6, 11-6 (27 mins)

Tom showed signs of his experience holding the hard hitting Cayman player, from getting too settled into the match. The match was filled with some great short balls, but in the end Tom was too steady.

Kashif Shuja def Richard Birks 11-6, 11-9, 11-8  (30 mins)

Another veteran on tour showed his flare with his sensational volley nicks in the first 3 points. However after that he was forced to rally and work hard, and Richard used his effective length balls with some short balls. In the end, Kashif just had another gear and took the crucial points.

Alma Kusharanti def Kristen Nightingale 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 (18mins)

Even thought Alma doesn't play many WSA tournaments, she is a local player who has been training here for a while and showed too much strength for Kristen

Sarah Cardwell def Jessica Turnbull 11-2, 11-4, 11-8 (20mins)

A lot of hard hitting, but Sarah showed her strength over the up and coming Jessica

Megan Craig def Kirsty Geue 11-7, 11-1, 11-3 (17mins)

Megan was too fit and too fast for Kirsty

Christine Nunn def Taylor Flavell 11-6, 11-4, 11-5 (16mins)

Christine played very well to make this match look easier, than what it should have been.

Tamika Saxby def Selena Sheikh 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 (21mins)

Tamika's length was consistently too good for Selena, giving her opportunities to work Selena around.

Samantha Davies def Grace McErvale 11-3, 11-2, 11-4 (17mins)

This was a quick match with Sam showing her experience over the junior.

This was an entertaining match with Larissa using the front of the court very effectively, forcing Milou to work hard and use all her experience to counter attack. However just at crucial points Milou held steady and Larissa made the errors.
