Race in Squash in America Statement from Pat Cosquer
The
beautiful game of squash has a deep-rooted history in America of
exclusion and rejection of the basic principles of equal access,
opportunity, and representation, and many of the structures which
enabled that exclusionary heritage still exist today.
It is incumbent upon our dedicated players, coaches, and leadership to
pool our collective knowledge, experiences, and resources to work
vigorously to affect positive change and ensure that the future of
squash in America looks different than its past, and that access,
opportunity, representation, and success are equally attainable for all
who desire it.
I am hopeful that we can use this pivotal moment in time as an
opportunity to help identify ways in which we can reinvent ourselves
and our game, and move squash in America forward.
