ABOUT THE CLUB
GCC is a private country club in an urban setting that offers a full
range of athletic and social activities. Located 15 minutes from center
city Philadelphia on fourteen acres hidden away in Germantown is the
Germantown Cricket Club. Recreational and Social amenities include 5
singles squash courts, 2 doubles squash courts, 45 tennis courts, a
fitness center, swimming pool, bowling alleys, cricket grounds and an
elegant clubhouse that is listed on the national register of historic
places.
JOB SUMMARY:
The squash professional is responsible for the teaching, training and
coaching of adult and junior members in the squash department in
accordance to GCC standards and is responsible for maintaining the
standards and rules of the game as outlined by US Squash and PSRA while
representing Germantown Cricket Club.
REPORTS TO: Club General Manager and Director of Squash
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Demonstrated knowledge and excellence in squash singles and doubles
• Excellent communication skills with members in appropriate tone and manner
• Extremely strong organizational skills
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work under the direction of the Director of Squash.
It is understood that this position is a Full- Time, year round
position and it is expected that the Squash professional be present
during peak times and when the Director of Squash dictates to
facilitate the clubs Squash program.
Responsible to teach and train adult and junior players.
Responsible to coach junior squash players at squash competitions.
Coach and participate in training clinics in accordance to US Squash standards.
Manage squash tournaments, both internal and external where GCC is represented.
Is responsible to teach at all squash club sponsored camps and clinics as assigned by the Director of Squash.
Must be able to communicate effectively with management and staff.
Listens to, then respond to the comments, requests and questions from
the members and the staff of the club. Communicate with the
customers and solicit their input (good or bad).
Makes sure that the member leaves satisfied; settles any disputes while maintaining good member relations.
Maintains a safe, clean and healthy environment for all the members, guests and staff, ensuring all safety rules are followed.
Responsible for enforcing the rules of club.
Must be proficient in pro shop operations, lesson billing, and able to
adhere to and administer all policies and procedures of the club in
accordance to established standards.
Responsible for assisting in the selling of pro-shop merchandise and proficient in stringing racquets.
Controls cost by properly maintaining equipment.
Adhere to the dress code and all of Germantown Cricket Club policies.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Squash.
GCC hosts a school squash program during the season, the squash
professional may take on a responsible coaching role with one of the
school teams.
