Al Muzayen Celebrates Biggest Tour Title by Howard Harding
19 June 2012 -
Kuwaiti squash star Abdullah Al Muzayen celebrated the biggest title of
his career when he defeated Egypt's Karim Abdel Gawad in the final of
the Jena International No1 at Qadsia Sporting Club in Kuwait City,
Kuwait.
And the unseeded 24-year-old did so in fine style - despatching two
higher-ranked seeds in the PSA World Tour Challenger 15 event and
making his career-title breakthrough without dropping a game.
It was after ousting top seed Mohd Ali Anwar Reda in the quarter-finals
that world No55 Al Muzayen faced his third successive Egyptian, third
seed Gawad, in the final.
But the local hero was on fire, beating 20-year-old Gawad - ranked 35 in the world - 11-8, 12-10, 11-4 in just 35 minutes.
The title marks the 11th of Al Muzayen's career - and his seventh PSA Tour trophy on home soil.
