Perry and Pomportes To Contest Ile Rousse Final by Fram Gommendy
June 21, 2012
- It will be an Anglo-French final of the WSA $5k Ile Rousse
International on the French island of Corsica after tonight’s
semi-finals at at Squash Loisirs.
English second seed Sarah-Jane Perry proved too strong for Maud
Duplomb, although the French third seed ran as willingly as ever before
losing 11/3, 11/3, 11/6.
“Ruthless or rubbish, nothing in between,” said Perry, pleased once
more with her petformance. “Maud never gives up, I just had to keep
putting the ball away from her.”
“It was a bit too fast for me today,” admitted Duplomb, “I was
constantly late on the ball. I would have loved to slow her down, but
that’s not my game. Oh well, beach for me now,” she concluded.
Perry faces another Frenchwoman in the final after sixth seed Laura
Pomportes ended the run of Egyptian qualifier Nadeen Shahin 11/9, 11/5,
11/8 to reach her first-ever WSA final.
“The first game was pretty close and I didn’t attack vey much,”
admitted Pomportes, “but once I relaxed I was more incisive and able to
hurt her at the front. I was really glad to win 3/0 as I saw that she
won an eartlier round from 2/0 down.
“For the final, Sarah-Jane is playing well, but I have nothing to lose, I’ll try my best to keep the title in France!”
