- New Zealand squash star Joelle King is on target to claim another
crown, cruising into the final of the North Island Championships in
Cambridge.
The world number 13, who is yet to drop a game in the tournament, has
crushed fourth seed Megan Craig 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 in the
semifinals. She will meet second seeded Kylie Lindsay in the
title decider tomorrow. Lindsay eared her place in the final with
a hard fought 12-10, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9 victory over third seed Amanda
Landers-Murphy.
Meanwhile, Campbell Grayson is also in good shape to take out the men's
draw. The top seed is through to the semifinals after a 11-4,
12-10, 1-3 victory over Joseph Watts and looks to be on track to add
the North Island title to the South Island crown he won two weeks ago.
Second seed Evan Williams is also safely through to the semis, beating
Zac Millar 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 and will play third seed Paul Coll for a
place in the final. Coll earned his spot in the last four with an
11-2, 11-6, 13-11 win over Christopher Lloyd. However, the
tournament has come to an early end for four seed liver Johnston who
was beaten 7-11, 7-11, 11-6, 13-11, 12-10 Lance Beddoes. Beddoes
will now play Grayson in the last four.
