National Urban Individuals Attracts 300 Players from US Squash
June 24, 2013
- The 2013 National Urban Individual Championships played out from June
14-16 at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, attracting
over 300 of the best urban squash players from 14 different programs
across the country.
The Urban Individual Championships have been held since 2006, and are
one of two annual national events held by the National Urban Squash and
Education Association, the other being the National Urban Team
Championships held at the beginning of each year.
Tim Wyant, Executive Director of NUSEA, says he has enjoyed watching
the rise in the level of competition and number of programs that
participate in the event over the years.
“The tournament is unique because it provides a sense of community not
only for each Urban Squash program, but for all of Urban Squash,” he
said.
“It is one of two events that all the programs can gather together and represent Urban Squash as a whole.”
“NUSEA looks forward to the increase of programs that participate in the tournament in the upcoming years.”
Two CitySquashers brought home the U19 divisions – with Adriana
Benedith winning the girls’ U19 and Andew Cadienhead taking out the
boys’ U19.
Santa Barbara School of Squash earned its first two titles as Sebastian
Paredes won the boys’ U13 and Miguel Nava won the boys’ U17 divisions.
