- Local hero Abdullah Al Muzayen delighted the crowd at the South
Surrah Ministries Complex in Kuwait City by beating Egypt's Omar Abdel
Meguid to win the Kuwait Open Challenger (Cup Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad) -
and celebrate his sixth PSA World Tour title triumph on home soil.
It was the dream final
of the PSA Challenger 10 squash event between the top-seeded Kuwaiti
and No2 seed Meguid, the world number 63 from Giza - and the pair's
second clash in a Tour final in Kuwait since September.
But again it was left-hander Al Muzayen who prevailed, winning 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 7-2 (ret.) in 42 minutes.
"It was a really tough
match and very close," said the 24-year-old Kuwaiti later. "He is very
difficult to play with because of his height - I am happy to win!"
The success brings up the 10th PSA Tour title of world No60 Al Muzayen's career.
