Job Description
Urban
Squash Cleveland is an after-school youth development program, which
uses the sport of squash, in combination with academic tutoring,
literacy development, fitness education, community service, and
mentoring to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of urban
public school students. Founded in 2010 through collaboration
with the National Urban Squash and Education Association (NUSEA), Urban
Squash Cleveland works with 5th – 9th grade students in Cleveland since
January 2012.
Job Title: Coach Across America – Fitness & Squash Director Reports to: Executive Director Principal Accountabilities
Plan and facilitate weekday squash practices for 15 students of varying skill level Plan and facilitate Saturday squash practices of varying levels Schedule and organize student participation in all local and out of state squash tournaments Manage squash equipment and clothing for 30+ students Recruit and manage squash volunteers Work
with Executive Director and Academic Director in ensuring success of
other parts of programming, including parent communication, community
outreach and community service
Qualifications and Requirements
REQUIRED Knowledge in the game of squash Strong desire to work with children Strong communication and organizational skills Valid driver’s license Must be able to pass a background check
PREFERRED Experience in coaching/teaching children Bachelors Degree in any field, or a student working towards a Bachelors Degree Experience in working with/maintaining relationships with families Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google documents
Compensation This
position is a one-year AmeriCorps position offered to Urban Squash
Cleveland through Up2Us. Participants will receive a modest living
stipend and be eligible for an Education Award of $2,775.00 after
completing 900 hours of service. For more specifics about the Coach

of applicant. The
ideal candidate will be a high-energy, creative, hard-working,
self-starter with strong communication, organizational, and
interpersonal skills. Most importantly, candidates must have a
passion for working with youth in the city, and a belief that all
children can learn and grow if given the proper guidance and support.
