PST Announces 2012-13 Squash Media Awards from Tour Media

- Pro Squash Tour's Media Director Georgetta Morque announced the media
outlets which received the Pro Squash Tour Media Awards for this past
year.
"These awards are given annually to media outlets or individual in
recognition of their outstanding coverage of the sport of squash and
its many benefits, including health," said Morque.

Jim Wolfe, Editor of Greenwich Citizen
Editor Jim Wolfe featured an in-depth Q and A sports section cover
article PST pro Ned Marks. The article, “The squash racket, Greenwich
native talks about life as a professional and the Pro Squash Tour,”
(May 18, 2012) conveyed Marks’ lifelong passion for squash and his
career as a pro player.
Wolfe, who was honored to receive the award, said: “When you have an
interesting subject who gives thoughtful, interesting answers, it’s not
hard to put out a good story.”

The Daily Voice gave extensive coverage to PST tournaments on its sites
in Westchester and Fairfield Counties throughout the season, featuring
engaging profiles of the pros, advance stories of tournaments, match
results and photos. Reporters included Eric Gendron, Luke Lavoie,
Andrew Meola and Danny LoPriore.

The Westchester County Business Journal featured squash club owner and
professional Mike Callaway, PST host, on the cover and ran an extensive
article on the sport and the business of squash in the region, “Growing
with squash,” by John Golden (February 27, 2012). The Hudson Valley
Business Journal featured an article, “With this type of squash you
lose weight,” by Catherine Portman-Laux (June 11, 2012), which profiled
squash professional Phil Wilkins and his squash career at
LiveTechnology, a PST tournament host. Both articles highlighted the
health and fitness benefits of the sport and its advantages for
business professionals.
TV: TV 20 Detroit
Dave Leval’s piece (May 3, 2012) featured members of the Detroit
Athletic Club and pros in advance of the PST World Championships. The
spirited segment was filmed on court, showing the players and pros in
action, and highlighted the fitness, challenges and enjoyment that the
sport offers.

Daily Newspaper: Plain Dealer (Cleveland)
The Plain Dealer captured in Lynn Ischay’s photos and words,
“Messin’with Sas-squash,” (October 22, 2012), the exhilaration and fun
of the sport for both PST pros and inner-city youths.
Radio: Fox Sports 980 Albany
Chris Onorato and Zach Bye’s interview (April 12, 2012) with Albany
squash player and PST tournament host Dan Sleasman was a lively
discussion of the sport, its fast action and excitement for fans and
players.
