Millie Tomlinson Takes Historic Bucharest Title by Howard Harding
June 8, 2015 -
Victory over top-seeded compatriot Fiona Moverley in the final of the
Women's Dafi Consult Invest Squash Open in Bucharest saw England's
Millie Tomlinson make history by winning the first Women's Squash
Association (WSA) World Tour event to be staged in Romania.
Seeded two, the 23-year-old from Derbyshire reached the third Tour
final of her career when she overcame fellow countrywoman Victoria
Temple-Murray in a four-game semi-final.
Favourite Moverley cruised through to the final without dropping a
game, seeing off fourth-seeded French opponent Chloe Mesic in the other
semi.
But Tomlinson, the world No.59 (pictured above, right, with Moverley)
who is yet to lose a Tour final, put an end to Moverley's winning
streak - upsetting her higher-ranked opponent 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 to claim
her third, and historic, Tour title.
