UK Court Dedicated To WSA's Laura Massaro from Squash365

Laura Massaro took part in a ceremony at the David Lloyd Leisure Club
which saw one of their latest glass back squash courts dedicated in her
honour.
The current 28 year old British National Champion unveiled the plaque
shortly after 2pm on Saturday which was presented by David Lloyd and
England Squash & Racketball.
The English international started working as a receptionist in the club
to help subsidise her travel costs as an up and coming junior ten years
ago before reaping the benefits of complementary membership as a full
time professional and one of the world’s best players.
The members were treated to a fascinating match-up between local junior
players and David Lloyd Club Members in an exciting points based squash
challenge. Members were also given the opportunity to take on Laura on
the newly named court.
Laura commented, “I am very grateful for the support that David Lloyd
have provided me throughout my career over the past ten years. It
is a real honour to have a court named after me here in my home town.”
Steve Brodie, David Lloyd Sports Manager added, “We are so proud to
have a world class athlete training at our facility and we wanted to
recognise the achievements of Laura by naming the court after her. We
hope she inspires the next generation of squash players and we look
forward to supporting her for the rest of her career.”
Laura regularly trains at the David Lloyd Centre and can now add will
add this achievement to her long list of recent awards. She is
the 2011 Women’s Squash Association (WSA) ‘Player of the Year’, 2011 US
Open Champion, a Commonwealth Silver Medallist and has won consecutive
British National Championships in 2011 and 2012.
