Al Muzayen Wins PSA Ghaeme Cup In Iran by Howard Harding
20 July 2012
-Kuwait's leading squash player Abdullah Al Muzayen brushed aside all
opposition in the inaugural Ghaeme ale Mohammad Cup in Iran to win the
PSA World Tour Challenger 5 event at the Gorgan Squash House in Gorgan
in impressive style.
The top-seeded left-hander dropped his first game of the tournament in
the semi-finals, but ultimately despatched Jordan's No3 seed Ahmad
Al-Saraj 11-2, 8-11, 11-5, 11-0 to make the 15th Tour final of his
career.
In the other semi, second seed Ammar Al-Tamimi beat fellow countryman
Mohammed Yaquop Hajeyah in four games to set up the all-Kuwaiti final
predicted by the seedings.
But Al Muzayen, the 24-year-old world No48, was too strong for
Al-Tamimi, beating his 23-year-old compatriot - ranked more than 60
places lower - 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 in just 27 minutes.
The win marks the 12th PSA Tour title of Al Muzayen's, but his third in a row and his fourth of the year.
