J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions Confirms Vanderbilt Hall Location as Grand Central Welcomes New Restaurant The MTA has unveiled
plans for a new food emporium to occupy several spaces in Grand Central
Terminal including the west side of Vanderbilt Hall starting in
2016. In a call today, the MTA’s Director of Development Nancy
Marshall profiled the changes to John Nimick, producer of the
Tournament of Champions, and assured him that the ToC was invited to
maintain its annual presentation of world class squash on the east side
of Vanderbilt Hall. In addition, both recognized that the new
dining operation, run by Danish Celebrity Chef Claus Meyer, famous for
co-founding Nomo in Copenhagen, could potentially fulfill the majority
of the ToC’s hospitality offerings when in full operation. “Given what I have
seen from the proposal, ToC supporters and fans will be well served by
the offerings of the Meyer group emporium. The fact that the food
and beverage operation the ToC will be sharing Vanderbilt Hall with
after 2016 is being developed by the co-founder of a restaurant voted
no. 1 in the world, is consistent with everything we strive for with
the ToC,” said Nimick after the call. The 2015 J.P. Morgan
Tournament of Champions is set to be the biggest and best yet, with
upgraded prize money for both Men and Women, new sponsors and exhibits
and full use of both halves of Vanderbilt Hall. Dates for the
ToC’s 18th anniversary in Grand Central Terminal are January 16-23,
2015.
