World Stars Train In Calgary
by Ashley Read

August 28, 2012 - Jenny Duncalf and Lisa Aitken ranked 2 and 55 in the world respectively, were invited by head squash professional Ashley Read to be guest pro’s for the annual Altitude and Attitude performance squash camp held at the prestigious Calgary Winter Club.

As part of their summer training schedule world squash stars Jenny and Lisa spent a week training at the Calgary Winter Club, at an altitude of 3442 feet above sea level, an ideal training base for professional athletes

Jenny and Lisa used the week as part of their preparation for upcoming world tour events; they did a fantastic job combining their own training with imparting their knowledge to all of the camp players, leading every session setting a great example for the campers. They also shared details of life as a pro squash player, training routines, and how to prepare for success.

The camp was promoted as 'live the life of a professional squash player for one week' and that is exact what happened.

Jenny and Lisa's goal was simple; their intent was to show the top local players exactly how the professionals train. For one week the local players became pro's themselves. Every session was planned to show just what is needed to perform at the highest level. The campers were led by Jenny and Lisa in every session they did, be it on court, on the bike or in the gym, setting the example for others to follow. The campers pushed themselves to their limits alongside these world class professionals.

This year the camp attracted not only a wealth of local talented juniors but also several highly ranked Canadian national senior players. High intensity court sessions along with cycle classes, speed/agility and weight sessions and even a trail run on the local Nose Hill.

The professional coaching team of head pro Ashley Read and assistants Susie King and David Duncalf joined into every session, training and pushing themselves alongside many of their students added to the atmosphere of the camp. He pro Ashley Read said "as coaches we have to show our students that we still have what it takes. Jenny and Lisa did an incredible job showing just how much dedication it takes to be truly world class, we can't wait for next year’s camp which will be bigger and better than ever"
