Nicol David's Hold On #1 Ranking Approaches Seven Years from WSA Media
August 1, 2013 - Nicol David holds onto the number one position for an 83rd consecutive month in the August WSA Rankings published today.
The 29 year old
Malaysian, who will turn 30 at the end of the month, stays ahead of
British Open Champion Laura Massaro and an unchanged top 20. David is
currently in Cali, Colombia for the World Games where is leads a strong
field, featuring seven of the top twenty players.
David, Massaro and the
rest of the world's top players will next be seen in next month's CIMB
Malaysian Open taking place between the 10-15 September.
Outside the top 20,
Amanda Sobhy moves back up seven places to no.23 after claiming her
biggest title at the Buler Challenge Cup. There were career highs for
Buler Challenge Cup quarter finalist Tong Tsz-Wing at no.47, Nouran
Ahmed Gohar at no.55, Tasmanian Open winner Antonella Falcione at
no.76, Malaysian Squash Tour Leg no.7 semi finalist Cyrielle Peltier at
no.78, Malaysian Squash Tour Leg no.7 finalist Habiba Mohamed Ahmed
Alymohmed at no.84 and Nada Elkalaawy who makes her top 100 debut at
no.100.
