Farhan Follows Through In Islamabad by Howard Harding

- In a repeat of the final 12 months ago, defending champion Farhan
Mehboob defeated experienced fellow Pakistani Mansoor Zaman in today's
first round of the CAS International in Islamabad to earn a place in
the quarter-finals of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event in
its sixth year at the Mushaf Squash Complex in the Pakistan capital.
Third seed Mehboob
despatched 32-year-old Zaman, the 2001 champion, 12-10, 11-8, 11-3 and
will now face Muhammad Saqib Yousaf for a place in the last four.
Yousaf scraped through after beating qualifier Syed Ali Shah Bokhari
9-11, 11-2, 12-10, 9-11, 13-11 in an 82-minute marathon.
But Farhan's brother Waqas Mehboob suffered a shock defeat, going down 3-11, 11-9, 11-5, 3-0 (ret.) to qualifier Kashif Khan.
And UAE-based
Pakistani Khawaja Adil Maqbool also failed to secure his expected place
in the last eight - falling to qualifier Tayyab Aslam 11-3, 7-11,
13-11, 11-7.
