Shady Side Academy

Shady Side Academy’s
Athletic Department is seeking a Head Coach for the Prep Boys and Girls
Squash teams for the winter sports season 2014-2015. Reporting to
the Head of School and Director of Athletics the Prep Head Squash Coach
supervises, coordinates, and promotes all phases of the squash
program. S/he is responsible for running a comprehensive, high
quality high school squash program in accordance with the academic
standards, stated mission and goals of the Academy and the guidelines
of all rules and policies established by the Academy. S/he is
responsible for preparing and conducting daily practices from Monday
through Friday, attending all practices and games, meeting with
assistant coaches and/or captains on a regular basis, handling all
administrative tasks related to attendance, grades, awarding letters,
recording stats, etc. for the Prep program, communicating all necessary
information (team/player/parent expectations, coaching philosophy,
schedules, etc.) to players and parents, posting scores online,
responding to requests for information from the media and prospective
student athletes, and collaborate regularly with the other coaches in
the boys’ and girls’ squash program to ensure program alignment.
S/he is responsible for any other squash related duties as assigned by
the Director of Athletics and/or the Head of School.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree
and collegiate playing experience are required. Ideal candidates
will have three to five years of successful coaching experience as Head
Coach at the secondary or post-secondary level and/or two to five
years’ experience as a classroom teacher, experience in program
development from elementary through high school, a desire to engage
fully in the life of the Academy, a commitment to a high level of
academic rigor, demonstrated passion for coaching and teaching
adolescents, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written
and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and
attention to detail, an ability to multitask and prioritize workload,
superior interpersonal skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite,
Groupwise/Novell, Smartboards, and/or other technology directly linked
to working at Shady Side Academy.
Compensation
Salary is competitive
and commensurate with experience. Lunch is included when school
is in session. Excellent health and retirement benefits are part of the
employment package. Funding exists to support continued advanced degree
work, as well as participation in professional conferences, workshops,
summer study, and travel.
