New York Times Racquet Sports Rebuttal by Ferez Nallaseth
September 8, 2015
This article appeared in the NYT last week.
With a Paddle, Tennis Stars Find They're Up the Creek
It is a fashionable aside with the unfortunate effect of continuing to
fuel public opinions and opinions on the various racket sports with
their negative impact on Squash in the Olympics.
It needs a rejoinder!
Beyond Cocktail Parties at the US Open - the 'little known' World of
Squash Champions had Trumped Racket (& other) Skills of Tennis as
well as the 'Paddle' of TT & Other Champions!
Beyond the social world of Racket Athletes lie some facts about a
'minor game' called Squash. They have been tested and repeatedly
proven, in the only way that escapes an irrelevant comparison of
'apples and oranges' - that understandably permeates the atmosphere at
a cocktail party! Apparently the New York Times has joined the long
list of experts in the Racket World making 'evaluations' of this
nature! Which considering the exclusion of Squash from its rightful
place in the Olympics makes it a little less than a 'fun' evening!
Our reasons will emerge from the string of links that follow the article. it will be submitted as a
letter to the NYT regarding the article.
